Your storytelling is immaculate. As someone whose experienced grief a lot in my life it was easy to connect and get gut punched by this. The tone shift hit like a truck and almost brought me to tears. No matter who plays this will be able to connect to the beautiful experience you've created.
This was so well written that I needed to step back and process everything. This hits very close to home, especially the ending. The Spanish phrases also tie everything together truly making this such a heart-felt experience.
Playing through this was very home-hitting; seeing the interactions of Hispanic phrases and relating to them really made this more enjoyable. Nearing towards the end of the game, you really start to see a shift in tone between interacting the entities each time you approach from beginning to end, which plays out in the end.
This was a beautifully simple punch to the gut (in a good way). The ending sneaks up on you, even if you're expecting it the whole time. I think no matter who plays this, they'll be able to relate to it in some way, as grief and hardship are universal factors of life. The last line of the game really hit home, and I think it was a perfect ending to it all.
